The Josh Kemp Quartet, featuring John Turville (piano), Chris Hill (double bass) and Dave Smith (drums), have been playing together for the last three years. Their rapport allows the music to flow with spontaneity, from fever-pitch intensity to soft and sensitive phrases. They have a sound that is lyrical and melodic, whether playing standards or more contemporary material. Josh’s latest CD ‘Animus’, with this quartet, features his own compositions and has just been released on 33 Records.
